Summer Reading Response #2
In continuation of July’s post, consider the connections between the second text you read this summer and a classmate’s first text. Read through the comments from Summer Reading Response #1 and identify a peer's post that connects in some way to the text you are currently finishing. Explain in depth and detail the connection between this peer’s passage and response to your current text, making sure you specifically mention to whom and what you are responding as well as your new text title. Scoring for this assignment will be based on thoughtfulness and effort. Total Points: another 30 of 100 for entire Summer Reading Assignment.

Summer Reading Response #1
One element of tenth grade Humanities (Advanced World Literature and AP World History) is perceiving and articulating the connections that exist wherever human beings are concerned- whether across languages, cultures, religions, or time itself. For your first summer reading assignment, choose a passage, between five and fifteen lines long, from one of the two texts you selected off the reading list in the post below, that makes you think of a relevant, current event (in any part of the world). Explain the connection between this passage and the current event, as well as the passage's relation to your text as a whole. Scoring for this assignment will be based on thoughtfulness and effort. (Please see my example and students' examples in the comments below.) Don't forget to tell us the title of the text you've selected and the page number your passage appears on!
Total Points: 30 of 100 for entire Summer Reading Assignment.
